Party Season Is Here

Get ready to glam up because party season is officially upon us. We’ve got all the tips, tricks and new product recs you need to nail your glam throughout all of those upcoming festivities. Read on for your expert approved guide…

Once considered a major beauty faux pas, glitter is back but it’s more refined than the chunky type we all loved in the ‘90s. Take a leaf out of Gigi’s glam book and try her sophisticated interpretation of this twinkling trend across your eyes, cheekbones or decolletage.

This year, the holiday season is all about bringing it with your glam. After so many events and parties were cancelled last year because of lockdown, it’s def time to ramp up by glitz! For beginners, try playing with different glittery highlighters on your cheekbones and eyes. The new nine-pan palette from Ciaté London has the perfect blend of super wearable (and blendable) matte and shimmer neutral tones.

The smoky eye is another throwback beauty trend making a reappearance this season and we love to see it. If you don’t want to jump in headfirst, keep yours soft and subtle in muted neutrals for an ultra-wearable look. Or, if you fancy turning things up a notch, go bold - like superstar singers JLo and Camila Cabello - and match your smoky eyeshadow shade to your outfit. Whichever way you go, the application principles remain the same: Blend thoroughly and line your waterline for added oomph.

“Red lipstick is so striking and powerful,” says celebrity hair and makeup artist Rani Shortland. And, if you’ve got five seconds to elevate your day glam to evening-ready, this LBD of the beauty world will take you there. “Unless your using a liquid lippy, it’s important to use a lipliner to define your lip shape and help your lipstick stay put for longer,” says Rani. If you need more inspo, let this look from Alexandra Daddario’s at the recent Instyle Awards do the talking.

Remember that red lippy goes hand-in-hand with sparkling white teeth, so if yours need a top book in for your transformative teeth session by clicking here.

When it comes to ensuring your look lasts, the key lies with both the beginning and the end of your glam application. In other words? You need to prep and set!

“Priming your skin is so important,” says Rani. “Patrick Starrr has actually launched a really great blurring primer that acts as an adhesive to help your makeup stay, but setting spray is also vital,” she adds. (Urban Decay has a great spritzed called All Nighter that stays forever). “Once I’ve used a setting spray, I’ll then go in with setting powder on top to really lock the makeup in place. This process means makeup does not budge at all and I know that the glam is going to look as good at 7pm as it did when it was applied 12 hours earlier,” says Rani.
